Our story

A family recipe from Lebanon, since 1940

Passed from grandfather to father to son, and baked in St. Louis since 2014.

Tradition you can tear into

86 years of the same bread

Cham Bakery is rooted in generations of family baking. It began in 1940, when our grandfather opened the family bakery and baked the pita we still bake today.

He taught the recipe to his son, who taught it to his own son. Three generations have kept the method the same: a simple dough, a very hot oven, and a few seconds in it. What changed is the size of the bakery.

In 2014 we opened our bakery in St. Louis, Missouri, and every loaf we sell is proudly made there, in the Midwest. It is fully automated now, and 1 bag comes off the line every 6 seconds, but every loaf in it is still the family's bread.

The years that made us

  1. 1940

    The family bakery

Our grandfather founds the original Cham Bakery and bakes the recipe that every Cham pita still follows.

  2. Three generations

The recipe passes from father to son, and again to the next son, with the old method kept as it was.

  3. 2014

    Made in St. Louis

We open our bakery in St. Louis, Missouri, and build it into a fully automated line that fills 1 bag every 6 seconds. Every Cham loaf is made here, in the Midwest.

The oven

Baked in brick at 1100°F.

The family recipe from Lebanon, since 1940. Our secret is not an ingredient. It is the heat.

We bake in a traditional Middle Eastern oven at 1100°F. A round of dough spends about six seconds inside. The heat turns the water in it to steam so fast that the round puffs up like a pillow, and when it cools, it leaves the pocket you open and fill.
